Okanagan Photography travelled to Charming, rustic, historic, and endearingly small-town Falkland to capture this couple’s nuptials. If you had any doubts about the dynamic scenery of British Columbia’s Interior, this picturesque wedding set in the hometown of one of Canada’s oldest stampedes will speak volumes.
The fertile valley and ancient destination for gathering and hunting by the Salish people is cradled in the arms of mountains to the South and West, and fed by rivers brimming with Kokanee Salmon. Even more spectacular than the mountainous backdrop was the big open sky, clear and blue that day to beautifully contrast the old barn wood and rolling green pastures. Friends and family truly felt at home celebrating the couple’s love whether they were kicking up their cowboy boots on the dance floor or simply laying on the warm grass watching the clouds blow by.
Between the bride’s effortless glamour, and the groom’s laid-back sophistication, their complimentary humours perfectly represented the Salish name for this place: “Meeting of the Winds”. We honestly couldn’t imagine a better location for our couple to exchange vows. Congratulations to the bride and groom! We wish you all the best in your future together; may you find as much abundance as this valley is known for.
