Let Them Eat Cake Pride Styled Wedding

Let Them Eat Cake Pride Styled Wedding

Gateau: It’s an indulgence. Created with a Marie Antoinette mindset, this Pride styled let them eat cake shoot was all about opulence, fantasy and desire. June is pride month in Canada, and this month, like all months, we celebrate love, and whatever that looks like to those in the centre of it. In Marie Antoinette era France, the hair was big and so were our contributors’ ideas! We wanted to emulate the styles of the time, but with a modern, BC flare. Shot on the edge of Lake Okanagan at the iconic Okanagan Beach Club in West Kelowna, we pulled out all the stops. Who doesn’t want coupes of local sparkling wine, topped with fluffy & sweet cotton candy, or a cake fit for a queen? Using light and airy colours, punctuated with pops of dark and deep, in elements like hair & make up, as well as décor, we were able to bring an edge to what would have been a delicate style.

With more traditional elements like glass candelabras, contradicted by modern ghost chairs and acrylic pillars, we brought a bit of 2021 into the French Revolution. Thank you to Michelle at Joie & Luxe for planning and styling this classy shoot. Our models Dustin, Mixologist’s Bartending, Abe, and Jade are uplifting people to know in the LGBT community, and we recommend working with all these talented individuals. Thank you graciously, hair and make up by Kathryn Ramsay Esthetics, cake by Kakes by Kathie, flowers from Corinne at Mission Park Flowers, rentals by Perspective Event Design, stationary and signage by Laura at Onyx Stationary, super fabulous balloon garland by Wilma at Social Creations Events, Dustin’s nails by Pearl Nailed It Nails, cotton candy by The Cotton Candy Lady, and the perfect venue for any wedding or event, Okanagan Beach Club.
