One commonly asked question is “What should we wear to our photo session?” Scroll on for our insight on what to wear to your family or engagement photography sessions.
Family Sessions
Be Yourself
First and foremost, photo sessions are about you and your style. We love celebrating your authenticity at Memorable and Vibrant Okanagan Photography. There are no real wardrobe “rules”, but a general recommendation is to choose a colour palette of 3-4 colours, and coordinate the family accordingly. Be sure to leave enough planning time to communicate with everybody, and if you need further assistance or have additional questions feel free to reach out to Michelle.
Keep it Simple
As a visual recommendation, avoiding busy patterns and focusing on solid colours is a good idea. For a smooth visual experience, you’ll notice that simplicity can highlight your natural setting beautifully. Whether you choose dark or light, muted or bright, we recommend wearing comfortable clothes for the best results. If you’re uncomfortable with what you’re wearing, you might want to use this opportunity to amp up your wardrobe with something new!
Dress for the Weather
The most important factor is that your wardrobe is weather-appropriate and that you’re comfortable with what you wear. There’s nothing better than being yourself, and your photos should reflect your style and family. If matchy-matchy is your thing, we’re all for it! If you would rather showcase more individuality and creativity, we’re here for that too.
Keep Warm and Cozy
We love our distinct seasons in the Okanagan, and encourage you to dress for the weather. If it’s very hot, consider linen fabrics, breezy skirts, and short sleeve tops. In the Winter, you can accessorize with hats, gloves, and scarves to stay cozy and warm. On a rainy day we will have umbrellas available for you, or you can bring your own! If you have any additional questions Michelle is happy to help. We want you to feel warm and comfortable on your photoshoots with us at Memorable and Vibrant Okanagan Photography.
